Implementing health promotion at work (2-day course)
Aim:
To increase employee productivity and efficiency, whilst reducing sickness-related absenteeism in the workplace, by improving the health of your workforce.
Objectives of the training days:
- To raise awareness of the importance of diet, physical activity and health amongst employers and employees;
- To train key workers in the basics of healthy eating, nutrition, exercise and health;
- To train key workers in the importance of a work-life balance, to enable key workers to recognise the first signs of stress in employees and to deal appropriately with stress in the workplace;
- To train key workers in the importance of muscular-skeletal health and well-being, and in giving appropriate advice for employees suffering with muscular-skeletal problems.
- To empower and encourage employers and employees to incorporate appropriate health practices and policies into the workplace.
Day 1 – The basics
Covers;
- The importance of workplace health – the evidence.
- Diet, physical activity and health – the basics
- Stress management – how to recognise signs of stress and deal with them appropriately
- Posture power – the importance of muscular-skeletal health and well-being and appropriate advice
Day 2 – Implementing health promotion in the workplace
Covers;
- Auditing current practices and policies in your workplace
- Ideas for workplace healthy lifestyle initiatives – resources, national campaigns and local events
- How to … set up and run your healthy lifestyle initiatives
- How to … evaluate your healthy lifestyle initiatives
By the end of the training course participants should be able to:
- Formulate ideas about the importance of healthy eating, physical activity, stress and muscular-skeletal well-being for the health of employees in your workplace
- Identify and be able to talk at a basic level, with confidence, around the PurelyHealth+ key messages;
- Feel motivated and confident enough to implement health practices and policies, with support, into the workplace
