The PhunkyFoods training programme

The PhunkyFoods team at Purely Nutrition train all classroom/teaching assistants in the basics of healthy eating and physical activity prior to them delivering the PhunkyFoods programme in schools.

This enables teachers and teaching assistants to deliver the programme with confidence, and also ensures consistency of delivery throughout schools. The cost of the course is covered by the PhunkyFoods programme and, as such, is free to schools.

One teacher/teaching assistant from every school is invited to attend a one-day course, designed to enhance understanding of the PhunkyFoods programme and to cover the basics, and importance of healthy eating in childhood. At the end of this session teachers/teaching assistants are given their access code to the PhunkyFoods website and on-line lesson plans.

Every teacher/teaching assistant attending the PhunkyFoods one-day training course is offered Continued Professional Development (CPD) in the form of a 12-week distance learning course, leading to a nationally recognised Level 2 Qualification in Nutrition and Health.

The cost of this qualification is also covered by the PhunkyFoods programme. A £50 deposit per teacher/teaching assistant is requested from each school, but this refundable by Purely Nutrition upon successful completion of the qualification.
